HP / Compaq

An HP recovery disk will restore your computer back to original settings. Your recovery disc for HP will be comprised of one or more disks. Many newer HP computer model restore sets only come on usb flash media. The HP Pavilion recovery disk one is inserted into the computer’s optical drive first. Once that is done, you restart the computer and ensure that you are booting from the optical drive. Instead of entering windows, as you would do normally, the restore disc will now begin the computer restore process. Successful booting from your HP recovery cd is followed by simple on screen instructions which will guide you through the computer recovery.

The HP/Compaq Laptop/Notebook model number can be found underneath the laptop with the PN (product number) as well as the SN (Serial number). Sometimes you will have to remove the battery and look in the compartment on the laptop where the battery was placed for the Model Number. The model number usually is listed under the Serial Number or Product Number. Sometimes it is listed as a Service Tag. (Ex: dv6-6150us or dv4225NR)
The HP/ Compaq Desktop model number, the PN and SN can be found on the back or the side of the tower. Model number examples (dv5-1150us, s5122f, or g60-458dx).
You will also find the Original Operating System underneath your laptop or back of desktop tower on a Microsoft sticker (COA) that has the Product key on it. The key is always 25 numbers and letters in 5 groups of 5.

Toshiba

A Toshiba laptop recovery disk, commonly called Toshiba restore disk, will restore your computer back to original settings. Your recovery kit will be comprised of one or more disks. Many newer Toshiba computer model restore kits only come on usb flash media. The Toshiba Satellite restore disk one is inserted into the computer’s optical drive first. Once that is done, you restart the computer and ensure that you are booting from the optical drive. Successful booting from your Satellite recovery cd is followed by simple on screen instructions which will guide you through the computer recovery.

To find the correct restore set for a Toshiba, you will need the first half of the Series Number and the first half of the Part Number.The Model Number is usually right after the series. (Ex: Satellite L45-S7409) where Satellite is the series and L45 is the first part.
The model number and part number for laptops can be found underneath the laptop. Examples of the combined name (NB205-PLL23U, C50-A-PSCF6U, or L455-PSLY0U).

Dell

A Dell recovery disk will restore your computer back to original settings. Your recovery kit will be comprised of one or more disks. The Dell restore disc one is inserted into the computer’s optical drive first. Once that is done, you restart the computer and ensure that you are booting from the optical drive.
